Strong speed for maxwell at spa
Australian teenager Thomas Maxwell has bounced back from a drenched Silverstone round to put in his most promising round of the season at the spectacular Circuit de Spa Francorchamps in Belgium. Maxwell showed strong top 5 pace all weekend, proving that he has the speed to mix it with the front runners. The Australian qualified a season best 6th fastest, but wasn't able to fully capitalise after a tyre puncture in race 1 whilst running 5th brought his race undone. Maxwell managed to fight back and recover an equal best 7th place in the last race.
Thomas Maxwell: "We're extremely happy with the progress we've made with the car, showing some great speed at Spa. After a few big changes we're confident that we'll be able to continue building momentum for the remainder of the year."
"It was a shame the car speed didn't translate into results for us, with the tyre puncture in race 1 having a big impact on the overall weekend. We were pretty happy to salvage a good finish in race 3 with some seriously competitive racing at such an amazing track."
"The car feels a lot stronger and I'm confident that we'll be mixing it with the front couple now that we've proven we have what it takes."
The young Aussie sits a strong 8th in the championship and will look to keep progressing forward as the championship returns to the Snetterton 300 track for Round 7 on the 6th and 7th of August.
